About Our Telehealth Nutrition Services at Element Health

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)?

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are highly trained food and nutrition professionals. They hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited program, complete a supervised practice experience, and pass a national credentialing exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). RDNs also complete ongoing professional education and may be licensed in the state(s) where they practice.

What conditions do you treat with nutrition therapy?

Our RDNs provide care for a wide variety of conditions, including:
• Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes
• Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
• High blood pressure and cardiovascular disease
• High cholesterol or triglycerides
• Gastrointestinal issues (IBS, IBD, GERD, celiac)
• Food allergies and intolerances
• Eating disorders and disordered eating
• Cancer care and survivorship
• PCOS and hormone-related conditions
• Weight concerns and body image
• General wellness and disease prevention

How much does it cost?

If you have insurance, many plans cover Medical Nutrition Therapy—especially for specific conditions like diabetes, obesity, or kidney disease.

If you're paying out-of-pocket, we offer affordable private pay rates and packages. A cost estimate will be provided before your appointment.

Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for services?

Yes. Most Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) cover Medical Nutrition Therapy. We encourage you to verify eligibility with your plan provider.

How many appointments will I need?

The number of appointments varies depending on your health concerns and goals. Some patients benefit from just a few visits, while others prefer ongoing support over several months. Your RDN will recommend a plan that works for you.

Is my personal health information secure?

Yes. We use a HIPAA-compliant electronic medical record system to store all health information. All team members are trained in privacy laws and ethical practice standards to protect your confidentiality.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

We request at least 24 hours' notice for appointment cancellations or rescheduling. We have scheduled an experienced and knowledgeable registered dietitian specifically for your appointment. There will be no fee if the appointment is canceled before 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. If the appointment is  missed or canceled with less than 24 hours of notice, you will be charged for the full price of the appointment. This allows us to best serve all clients in need.

What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?

Medical Nutrition Therapy is an evidence-based, individualized nutrition intervention used to manage or prevent health conditions. Our RDNs assess your health status, lifestyle, and goals to create a personalized nutrition plan and provide the education and support needed for long-term success.

Do you offer nutrition counseling for children or families?

Yes. We offer nutrition services for children, adolescents, and families. Our RDNs work with pediatric feeding concerns, weight management, food allergies, and more. We also provide family-based counseling to support healthy habits at home.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! We are in-network with most major insurance providers, including:
Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, VIVA, and Medicare.
We recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card to ask whether virtual medical nutrition therapy is covered under your plan.

What can I expect during my first telehealth appointment?

Your initial visit typically lasts 60-75 minutes. Your RDN will review your medical history, current eating habits, medications, lifestyle, and goals. Together, you’ll build a realistic and personalized nutrition plan. Follow-up sessions may be recommended based on your needs.

Will I have the same dietitian at every appointment?

We strive to provide continuity of care by keeping you with the same RDN throughout your treatment. If a change is necessary, your new RDN will review your chart thoroughly to ensure a smooth and informed transition.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Once we receive your referral form, we’ll contact you to schedule your first telehealth visit.
